Welcome to L'Esperance

L'ESPERANCE MINISTRY (HOPE) has moved from Les Fouillets in Normandy to the lovely seaside resort of Cancale in Brittany, just east of St Malo where a warm welcome awaits you.

We are easily accesible by ferry from Poole/Weymouth/Portsmouth, either to St Malo which is only 15 minutes away, or to Caen with an hours drive to Cancale. The port at Le Havre is almost three hours away. If you don't wish to bring a car there are flights from Southampton to Rennes where we can pick you up if you wish to visit us.

We are renting a five bedroom house on a quiet road. It is typical Breton style with a balcony and garden and is close to all amenities. The house has to be accessed by steps but there is a bedroom and full bathroom on the ground floor for those who cannot manage more stairs.

L'Esperance can be a place of quiet repose for those who need peace and refreshment, or ideal for those who wish to explore Brittany or Basse Normandy. Mont St Michel can be seen from the sea front at the other side of the bay. The lovely sandy beach 'Plage de Verger' is only 3 minutes away by car. Visits to the ancient town of Dinan, the coastal town of Dinard and the City of Rennes are a must.

We encourage you to explore the website and to get in touch if you would like to come and stay with us and share in our ministry.

About Robin & Eileen

L'Esperance - Christian Retreats - Robin & Eileen AgnesWe have had a heart for France for many years, always feeling great compassion for the struggling churches and isolated Christians we have met on our visits and ministry trips.

After many years of close contact with Christians in France and leading some evangelistic teams from Britain we located to northern France in the summer of 2009.

Before coming here we led two Baptist Churches in the South of England. In France we have served the Lord as part of the Pastoral team in Honfleur Baptist Church, Normandy and through our own ministry, L'Esperance. We are now working with Paster Yannick Leray at St Malo Baptist Church and continuing our ministry of hospitality in the area.

Our Ministry at a glance

Through our ministry we aim to:

  • Welcome people from France and the UK by opening our home to those wishing to have a break in a delightful Christian setting.
  • Support and encourage local French Christians, especially those who have suffered hardship or discouragement.
  • Encourage links between Churches and Christians in France, the UK and elsewhere.
  • Support small churches and groups of Christians in the north of France and beyond.
  • Show Christ's love to those who are not yet Christians.
